Giray Dadali is a freeskier from Canandaigua, NY. He grew up skiing on the snowboard-only halfpipe at his local resort, and honed his skills on backyard jibs he built with his brother, Ahmet, and their friends. He moved to Salt Lake City to become a professional skier and get his degree in mechanical engineering. After suffering a significant back and pelvis injury, he wasn't sure if he would be able to walk again, but after months of rehab, Giray was able to not only walk, but get back on his skis as well. Since then, he's been extending his passion for skiing beyond the slopes, even using his mechanical engineering background to start his own company — Daymaker Touring — which creates innovative touring adapters to take backcountry skiing to the next level.
