I have used helmets in different sports and in snow sports, the Cirque X model from the beginning I use this Pret the design and comfort is fabulous, strong and light. I feel safe with the MIPS technology in case of an accident or fall (I hope I don't use it), The magnetic clip is easy to handle, plus it has great ventilation which makes it very comfortable without feeling suffocated
… that I’ve tried so far. Like advertised, they are lightweight - I barely know it’s on! I have audio pucks and when they’re inserted, they don’t press up against my ears and don’t hurt my ears after a days worth in the mountain. Great ventilation.
One thing though - only after 3 days of use, the helmet already shows many scuff marks from the goggle strap (shiny marks all around). Maybe it’s the type of matte finish that promotes this? That’s about the only negative I’ve experienced so far.
I have been wearing the Pret Cirque x while snowboarding for about a year now and have loved it. Yesterday, I put it to the test. I caught an edge and went tumbling, knocking myself unconscious and destroying the helmet. The neurosurgeons said that it looks like the back of my helmet landed on solid ice and that if I hadn't been wearing such a good helmet, I likely would've been airlifted from the mountain instead of walking off. No concussion or major brain damage, just a headache and bruised ribs.
I'm an athlete ambassador for Pret--and it is because I love their helmets and their approach to snow sports. I've got a huge noggin, but the L fits better than any other competitor out there. I can stash it in my backpack for the uphill track in the backcountry, and strap it on for full safety on the way down. It works great all day in the resort and vents out the heat that builds up. Rarely do I find the helmet even a little cool from accumulated sweat except for the warmest of spring or summer ski days. I've also given a few big smacks and cracks to Pret helmets over the years skiing--and that is ultimately why I keep putting my brain into the Pret Bucket--it keeps me safe, it keeps me secure, and it ensures I return to my family. There are a lot of things you cannot control in the world, there's a lot you can. Do yourself a solid, and get a Pret helmet--specifically THIS helmet.
I've been skiing in Pret helmets for the past 4-5 seasons. The Cirque X has become my go-to helmet no matter where I'm skiing. I spend the majority of my time in the backcountry these days, and I love that this helmet is lightweight, feature-packed, and durable enough to handle being tossed into the back of my truck and strapped to a pack most of the time. Opening and closing the vents is simple, and the fidlock buckle and twist retention system make it super quick and easy to put on and take off. I also feel well-protected thanks to the robust shell, foam liner, and MIPS. One of the best helmets on the market in my opinion.
Level 4 ventilation allows you to let out stored heat on the summit or preserve it on the chairlift when you are the only person crazy enough to still be out there. You have full control over your ventilation and offers more open airflow than any other helmet on the market.
