Helmet FAQs
Your helmet should fit snugly on your head without being too tight. It should sit level on your head, covering most of your forehead, but not obstructing your vision. Once on your head, dial Pret’sRipcord 360 Fit to adjust to your perfect fit. Your helmet should not move when you shake your head. Finally, secure your chin strap, featuring ourFidlock Magneticstraps and buckle, to a comfortable length.
Mips® (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) is one of the most widely adopted rotational mitigation systems and is included in every Pret helmet. It is designed to reduce rotational forces to the brain during angled impacts. Mips® consist of a low friction slip layer placed between the helmet shell and the part that contacts your head. This slip layer is free to move relative to the rest of the helmet during an angled impact, thereby reducing the rotational acceleration transferred to the head.
With a single lever, glove-friendly adjustment, Pret’s Tuned Ventilation system allows you to open and close the vents on the fly. Fury, Vision, Cynic 2, and Lyric 2 Helmets include tuned ventilation.
While Always Open Ventilation features direct venting for high output activities. Epic and Sol Helmets use always open ventilation.
Both venting systems pull moisture out of your goggles (thanks to the VisionVent integration), ensuring both fog-free vision and all-day comfort.
All helmets have a limited life span and should be replaced every 3-5 years. The main protective layer of your helmet is formed using Expanded Poly-styrene (EPS). EPS is sensitive to temperature variance. Your helmet lives an active lifestyle and is exposed to the elements on a regular basis. As such, it is recommended your helmet is replaced every three to five years to eliminate the effect of EPS biodegradation on performance.
